How will you celebrate Valentine’s Day?

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? TCoP will celebrate, but we’ll also be careful with our budget. Our plans are for a walk to the park for a picnic. We’ll take one of our $5 bottles of wine with us and stop at the grocery store along the way for bread, meat, cheese, fruit, and chocolate. A. introduced us to this idea when we were dating. He took J. to the beach for a surprise picnic.  What a romantic!  Not knowing what J. liked to eat, he packed a smorgasboard of every treat imaginable: bread, crackers, meats, cheeses, fruit cups, various dips, and even roasted peanuts. These picnics are enjoyable treats and don’t cost nearly as much as a dinner at a restaurant. All told, it will cost us $20-25.

We’ve also moved our usual Thursday night grocery store trip from Thursday evening (Valentine’s Day) to Friday evening. Why? Half priced candy! J. is sweet on candy hearts and can’t wait to get a bag on sale. A couple silly and fun ideas:

1) Snapfish ecards is offering free personalized photo e-cards: http://www.snapfishecard.com/

2) You can make you own candy heart here: http://www.acme.com/heartmaker/
